How do I find a therapist near me?

You can ask around for referrals. Many people are in therapy these days and you can often find a good recommendation this way. Just note that depending on your relationship to the person (say, a partner or close friend, for example), the therapist may not be able to see you. But once you get in touch with us, we can usually give you a recommendation.

You may also want to do some online research. You can search for local therapists. As long as they are licensed to practice in the state that you live, however, they don’t have to be down the street. Since so many therapists are offering telehealth or virtual therapy, you can see them from everywhere.

Here are the services we offer once you find us:

Initial Phone Consultation

Use this consultation to figure out your next step. We offer this as a service because we want to make sure you get the help you want. We can answer any questions about working with us, and what to expect in your first session.  (It's also OK if you're not sure what to ask.) We give referrals if you decide we're not a good fit. Yes, that first phone call can be intimidating! We try to make it as easy as possible to get you through the right door. You can set up your consultation time here, or just give us a call at (562) 704-4736.

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

One-on-one sessions are 50 minutes. During your first few sessions, we will collaborate on mapping your goals for therapy, and decide together on how you will know if you're making progress. We believe in solution-focused therapy. As long as you and your therapist put in the work, you should start to see some changes pretty quickly. You set the pace for your progress, and we make sure to guide you along the way.

COUPLES THERAPY

Couples sessions are 75-90 minutes. Sessions can be a great way to work through your communication patterns with a neutral person in the room. It's not about "who's right and who's wrong," but about truly understanding yourself and each other, so that you don't continue to repeat the same disagreements. Prospect Therapy welcomes all relationship structures and is affirming of all identities and sexualities.
